The first step is a simple visit. Whether you've been a Christian your whole life or whether you're just curious, we want to get to know you and help you on your journey. There are many great churches in Vacaville, so visit one of our Sunday morning worship services to see if First Baptist Church is the right fit for you.

Get Plugged In

When you're ready, there are many ways for you to connect at FBCVV:

• Join a ministry. What do you enjoy? Singing? Hospitality? Helping the needy? Teaching? Technology? Through our many ministries, you're sure to find a place where you fit in and can meet like-minded people. Becoming a Christian involves serving the needs of others, and our ministries each provide excellent opportunities to serve at a level at which you are comfortable. Talk to our office staff to see what's available.
• Join a community group. What's a community group? Sometimes referred to as a "small group," it's a group of people who get together to grow and learn together, sometimes in someone's home and sometimes at the church. The groups meet at various times throughout the week, so there's at least one group that will fit your schedule. Because of the smaller intimate setting, lifelong friendships are often born out of community groups. At FBCVV, our community groups follow a seasonal learning plan, keeping us all in sync even though we're not all in the same room at the same time. Contact the church office to learn more.
• Join a Bible Study. Unlike community groups, our Bible study opportunities don't follow the seasonal plan. Each one has a distinct learning plan of its own and offers a variety of learning styles to meet your needs. We have very basic studies and advanced studies... studies for youth and studies for seniors. Like community groups, many deep meaningful bonds are formed while studying the Word of God with a small group of people. Check out our Learning and Training Opportunities link. You may also contact the church office to find out what's available. Some of the Bible study classes are also found on our calendar. 
• Join Us in Fun. Yes, we do love to have fun! Look for upcoming events on our church calendar and just show up. Our events typically center around fellowship... that is, growing in unity as a church body through friendship, laughter, and enjoying time with each other. We have events for kids, events for adults, and events for families. Bring a friend. Come alone. Just come!

Offer Your Life to Christ

That sounds super deep, right? It's definitely the biggest step of those outlined here, but don't let it deter you in your exploration. As you learn more about God and begin developing a spiritual relationship with Jesus, there will come a time—and, only you will know when the time is right—to offer yourself to God. What does that mean?

In Romans 10:9, the Bible tells us, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

God is waiting for you with His arms open wide... even if you don't know or believe that just yet. As you learn more and your heart opens to that truth, the next step is to declare that Jesus Christ is your Lord.

Confession can look many different ways to different people. It might be in an intimate setting with a Pastor or trusted friend, or it might be in front of the whole church. We will not put the pressure on you to take this step—take as long as you need—just know that this is where the road eventually leads. And, honestly, it's a life changing event.

Get Baptized

Matthew 28:19 tells us, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Why baptism? Baptism is a symbolic act in which a Christian is immersed in water to show the end of an old way of living and the acceptance of a new life in Jesus Christ.

We believe that baptism is an outward expression of our new inward self. It's a way we show the world that we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It's an important step in developing a lifelong relationship with Jesus.
